About Canada Apostille
Canada joined the Hague Convention (Apostille Convention) in January 2024. This means Indian documents for Canada no longer require Canadian High Commission attestation — MEA Apostille from India is fully sufficient and accepted by Canadian immigration authorities, universities, and employers.
This is a significant change. Prior to January 2024, documents required notarization and sometimes High Commission verification. Now, MEA apostille is the globally recognised standard — simpler, faster, and officially accepted by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada), WES, ICES, and all Canadian credential evaluation bodies.
Whether you are applying for Express Entry PR, a study permit, a work permit, or bringing your family to Canada — your Indian degree, marriage, birth, and experience certificates must be apostilled by the MEA before Canadian authorities will accept them.
When You Need It
Permanent residency applications through Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or other immigration streams require apostilled educational and personal documents.
World Education Services (WES) requires MEA apostilled degree certificates and mark sheets for credential evaluation — essential for CRS points in Express Entry.
Canadian universities and colleges require apostilled transcripts and degree certificates for graduate admissions and international student applications.
Sponsoring your spouse or family to Canada under Family Class immigration requires apostilled marriage and birth certificates from India.
Skilled worker and employer-specific work permits, and professional licensing with Canadian bodies (engineers, nurses, doctors), require apostilled Indian credentials.
Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs), doctors, and engineers need apostilled certificates to register with provincial regulatory bodies like CNO, CRNBC, and PEO.
How It Works
Educational documents need HRD attestation before MEA. Personal documents go through the Home Department. We handle all steps — courier to us once.
Registered Notary Public attests your document as the first step.
Degree/diploma: HRD from your state. Marriage/birth: State Home Department.
Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi issues the Apostille sticker. Document is now valid for Canada — no further steps needed.
Good news: Since Canada joined the Hague Convention in 2024, there is no need for Canadian High Commission attestation. MEA Apostille is the final and only step required.
